Expressive Art and Design
Expressive Arts and Design nurtures children's creativity, imagination and self-expression. Through a rich and engaging curriculum, children are given the time, space and encouragement to explore, create and communicate their ideas in a variety of ways. Children develop their imagination through role play, storytelling and small world experiences, while sensory exploration encourages them to investigate and respond to the world around them using all their senses. They explore a wide range of materials and tools, learning how to use them independently and creatively to bring their ideas to life. Through music, singing, rhythm, movement and dance, children develop confidence, coordination and self-expression. By following their interests and natural curiosity, children are supported to become imaginative, confident and creative learners.
Material and Tools
Children explore and experiment with a wide range of materials, tools and techniques, helping them to develop creativity, curiosity and confidence. They learn how different materials can be used and combined to create a variety of effects, while developing the skills needed to use tools safely and independently. Through regular opportunities to investigate, create and express their ideas, children become increasingly confident in making choices and using a range of materials and tools to represent their own thoughts, experiences and imagination.
Role Play and Imagination
We offer children exposure to a wide range of stories to excite them and give them a bank of imaginary worlds to draw upon. Staff model how to take on a role and how to use materials to create narratives, build worlds, and enact roleplays.
Music and Movement
Children enjoy a wide range of musical experiences, including singing, listening to different genres of music and exploring rhythm and beat through movement. We enrich these experiences through opportunities to hear live music and work with local musicians. As children learn about different cultures and traditions, they are also introduced to music and dance from around the world, encouraging creativity, self-expression and a love of movement.

Sensory Exploration
Children are given rich opportunities to explore the world through their senses. Through activities involving textures, colours, sounds, smells and natural materials, children are encouraged to investigate, experiment and make discoveries. Sensory experiences help children develop curiosity, creativity and language while supporting their understanding of the world around them.

Our Curriculum
