Head of School's Message

As we come to the end of a particularly hot week, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to our incredible (awarding winning) staff for their commitment and care during the extreme heat.

Despite the challenging conditions, they have worked tirelessly to ensure that your children remained safe, regulated, and as happy as possible.

Staff adapted plans to create calm activities, ensured sunscreen was applied regularly, scheduled frequent drink breaks, and made thoughtful use of the cooler areas (thank goodness for air con) to give children some relief from the heat.

All of this was achieved while managing children who, understandably, were more tired and less regulated than usual. It’s important to acknowledge that our staff had very little opportunity to escape the heat themselves, yet they continued to prioritise the wellbeing of the children at every moment.

A huge thank you to each and every one of them!

Book & Rhyme of the week

Our next Talk for Writing Book is "Magic Beach" by Alison Lester.

Next week marks the immersion phase of the EYFS Talk For Writing programme, where children will explore the story through various engaging activities. They will explore the different elements of the beach through sensory activities.  This phase is crucial for developing understanding and language.

Our key vocabulary of the text is "Invincible", "Moat", "Ferry", "Dazzle", "Navigate" and "Beacon". Please see below link to the story;

Magic Beach by Australian author Alison Lester. Read aloud by Mrs Kenny.

For the next few weeks instead of Rhyme of the Week the children will be learning different Nursery Rhymes to perform at the Summer Picnic.

Language of the week

We are lucky to have a rich and diverse community with lots of different languages. Our language of the week is Romanian, which is spoken by a few of our families. Please find below links of how to say "Hello" and "Goodbye" in Romanian. Please practise with your child at home.

How to Say in Romanian Hello

How to Say in Romanian Good Bye

Learning At Home

In maths, we have been exploring shapes and their properties.

Go on a shape hunt at home, looking for objects with different numbers of sides and corners.

Talk about what makes each shape special as your child find them.

Have fun!

Success Story of the Week

A number of the children have had the opportunity this week to visit their new primary school.

They have returned to Nursery with lots of exciting things to tell us about their new teachers and classroom.

We will continue to support in getting those ready to embark on their new chapter in September.

For those staying on with us we very much look forward to your return.
