Head of School's Message

We are thrilled to share some truly exciting news.

Our Heath Lane Early Years Team has been recognised with a Pearson National Teaching Award – The Award for Early Years Team of the Year! We have been chosen as Bronze Winner.

This prestigious award is a testament to the unwavering dedication, creativity, and care our Early Years staff bring to their work every single day. Their commitment to nurturing a love of learning, supporting the development of each and every child, and creating a warm, inspiring environment is nothing short of exceptional.

On Wednesday it was National Thank a Teacher Day. We couldn’t imagine a more fitting day to celebrate this achievement and take a team photo in the sun. National Thank a Teacher Day is all about recognising those who go above and beyond to make a difference – and our Early Years Team truly embodies that spirit.

Please join me in congratulating them on this well-deserved national honour. We are so proud, and incredibly lucky, to have such a passionate and talented team shaping the very first steps of our children’s educational journey.

Book & Rhyme of the week

Our Talk for Writing Book is "The Three Billy Goats Gruff" by Mara Alperin and Kate Pankhurst.

The story will move into the imitation phase of the EYFS Talk For Writing programme, where children will focus on the story structure identifying the beginning, middle and end. This will involve activities such as retelling the story with actions, creating story maps and performing the text aloud. This phase is to provide a solid foundation through understanding and practising the language patterns and structure of the text.

Our key vocabulary of the text is "Snarl", "Meadow", "Trot", "Brambles", "Valley" and "Slobber". Please see below link to the story;

The Three Billy Goats Gruff. Illustrated Children's read-aloud (audiobook) story.

For the next few weeks instead of Rhyme of the Week the children will be learning different Nursery Rhymes to perform at the Summer Picnic.

Language of the week

We are lucky to have a rich and diverse community with lots of different languages. Our language of the week is Polish, which is spoken by one of our class teachers Joanna and her family. Please find below links of how to say "Hello" and "Goodbye" in Polish. Please practise with your child at home.

Learning At Home

Can you build a bridge using things you have at home - like cushions, books, blocks or LEGO?

Try to make a bridge that can hold a small toy. What happens if you change the shape or the number of blocks? Can you build it big enough for a toy car to drive under?

You can also try using your body to make a bridge! Lie on your back with your feet and hands on the floor - can you lift your tummy up to make a strong bridge shape? How long can you hold it?

Have fun exploring what makes bridges strong and steady!

Success Story of the Week

The children have been amazing this week in dealing with the heatwave and increased temperatures.

They have all been practising their sun safety by ensuring that they are wearing their hats outside and taking regular drink breaks to stay well hydrated.  For those will us all day they understand the importance of having sun cream reapplied throughout the day.

The bottom garden offers a lot of shade and much cooler area to play outside.  Often the children can prefer to stay in the air conditioned classroom particularly when it gets even warmer in the afternoon.
