Head of School's Message

As we wrap up another busy and rewarding term at Heath Lane Nursery School, I want to take a moment to reflect on the incredible progress and dedication shown by our staff, who have remained fully committed to our journey of improvement. At the heart of our curriculum are the Heath Lane values: Respect, Safety, and Confidence. These values continue to guide our daily practice and interactions, ensuring a nurturing and engaging environment for all our children.

I also want to remind everyone about the importance of considerate parking during drop-off and pick-up times.  The Staff Car Park is strictly for Staff only. Please drive carefully to ensure the safety of all our children and families.

Additionally, individual assessments will be sent out via email. Please keep an eye on your inbox, as these assessments are vital for understanding and supporting your child's learning and development.

Lastly, we are excited to announce that we will have a VIP visit the week we return, in celebration of Earth Day. This visit highlights our commitment to environmental awareness and sustainability, and we look forward to the exciting activities and learning opportunities that it will bring.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership. We wish you a pleasant break and look forward to seeing everyone refreshed and ready for another fantastic term.

Book & Rhyme of the week

Our Talk for Writing Book is "10 Things I can do to help my world" by Melanie Walsh as we will be focusing on sustainability.

The story will move into the imitation phase of the EYFS Talk For Writing programme, where children will focus on the story structure. This will involve activities such as retelling the story with actions, making lists and performing the text aloud. This phase is to provide a solid foundation through understanding and practising the language patterns and structure of the text.

Our key vocabulary of the text is "Reuse", "Reduce", "Recycle", "Pollution", "Valuable" and "World". Please see below link to story;

Our Rhyme of the Week for when we return after the Easter Holidays will continue to be: "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle".

In these sessions the children are also learning the Makaton signs to the lyrics.

Language of the week

We are lucky to have a rich and diverse community with lots of different languages. Our language of the week is Spanish, which is spoken by one of our pupils, and their family. Please find below links of how to say "Hello" and "Goodbye" in Ukranian. Please practise with your child at home.

Learning At Home

The Spring is finally here!

Create a simple weather chart by drawing a table with the days of the week and weather symbols (sunny, rainy, cloudy, windy).

Each day, observe the weather together and mark the correct symbol.

At the end of the week, discuss any changes—was it mostly sunny or rainy?

This activity helps children observe seasonal patterns and develop early science skills.

Success Story of the Week

We have had Electric Umbrella come to visit us and deliver some amazing workshops this term!

They appeared on ITV's Britains Got Talent and received a golden buzzer sending them straight to the final.  Our children created a banner to congratulate them and it was displayed on their last visit.

Our support means so much to them.  We will have our final sessions for this academic year on Friday 25th April and Friday 2nd May.
