Head of School's Message

Happy new year and welcome back! Thank you for completing the survey at the end of the last term. The words you used to describe Heath Lane were overwhelmingly positive, as illustrated in the word cloud below. On Monday, Heath Lane staff reviewed your feedback, considered Roots Federation values (Development, Education, Community) and British Values, to decide our own child-friendly values.

I am delighted to share with you our exciting new nursery values: Respect, Safety, and Confidence. These values reflect the heart of what we strive to nurture in our children and the ethos that guides everything we do here at Heath Lane Nursery School.

Respect teaches our children to value themselves, others, and the world around them. From showing kindness to friends to caring for their environment, respect helps build the foundation for positive relationships and a strong sense of community.

Safety is at the forefront of our practice. We aim to create a nurturing and secure environment where children feel protected and supported, empowering them to explore, learn, and grow with confidence.

Confidence is key to helping our children thrive. We encourage each child to believe in themselves, take on challenges, and celebrate their achievements, big and small. Confidence enables our children to develop resilience and a love of learning that will carry them through life.

These values will be woven into our daily activities, routines, and interactions, ensuring they become a natural part of every child’s experience at our nursery. We also invite you to join us in modelling and reinforcing these values at home.

Language of the week

We are lucky to have a rich and diverse community with lots of different languages. We are introducing a Language of the Week starting from next week.  One of our Class Teachers' "Videlina" is Bulgarian.  Please find below links of how to say "Hello" and "Goodbye" in her home language. Please practise with your child at home.

Learning At Home

The weather has been extremely cold this week.  Over the weekend look out for signs of how the environment changes and looks when there is a drop in temperature.  Please email in any photographs of what your child discovers.

Success Story of the Week!

We have welcomed new children to the Nursery this week and the current children have been wonderful in welcoming their new friends. The new children have all settled in very well to Nursery life.

This week we have had the perfect weather to immerse the children into the new Talk for Writing text "The Snowy Day" by Ezra Jack Keats. The children have been making footprints in the frost and then making footprints on paper.  They had a lot of fun sledging down in the bottom garden. We have watched weather reports and also, role played being a Meteorologist (weather forecaster).
