Head of School's Message
Welcome Back!
It has been a wonderful start to the new term, and it has been lovely to see how successfully the children have settled into nursery. There have already been lots of smiles, growing confidence and new friendships beginning to form as the children get to know one another and their new routines.
On Wednesday, we were also delighted to welcome our Super Star Sports coach, who brought lots of energy and enthusiasm to the children’s physical development. It was fantastic to see the children getting involved, having fun and developing their skills through active play.
Thank you to all our families for supporting such a positive start to the year, and to our wonderful staff for creating such a warm and welcoming environment for everyone.

Next week is Water Week! The children will have the opportunity to take part in different activities involving water.
Friday 23rd October - Inset Day - Nursery is closed.
Week commencing Monday 26th October - October Half Term - Nursery is closed and will reopen on Monday 2nd November.

In the main foyer there are a number of different uniform items of clothing - please help yourselves.
Please ensure that all items belonging to your child/ren are clearly labelled.
If your child has an allergy or medical need a Heath Care Plan must be completed and returned as soon as possible.

Language of the week
We are lucky to have a rich and diverse community with lots of different languages. Our language of the week is Italian, which is spoken by some of our children and their families.
Please find below links of how to say "Hello" and "Goodbye" in Italian. You can practise with your child/ren at home.

Learning At Home
Why not continue the children’s interest in potion making at home?
Set up your very own mini Potion Lab using a range of everyday items such as recycled bottles, cups, jugs and containers, alongside spoons, pipettes and small scoops.
Encourage your child to pour, scoop, stir, mix and squeeze as they create their own magical potions. These activities are a wonderful way to develop fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination and control, while also encouraging creativity, imagination and language.
For some extra magic, you could add bubbles, food colouring, flower petals or natural materials to make your potions even more exciting! What will your potion do? Will it turn someone into a unicorn, a tiger or a superhero? 🦄🐯🦸♂️
Remember: potions are for pretend play only and should never be tasted!
Healthy Me, Healthy World
Snack time is a lovely opportunity for children to develop independence and make healthy choices. Sometimes a group will eat together, so we can share the communal experience of sharing, taking turns and adults can model key skills. At other times, rather than everyone eating at the same time, children choose when they are ready to have their snack and select from the healthy options available.
Snack provides valuable opportunities for communication and language. Children can talk about what they would like, name foods, make choices, ask for help and chat with their friends and adults. These everyday conversations help build confidence and vocabulary.
Hand washing is an important part of our snack routine too. Children learn to wash their hands before eating, helping them understand good hygiene and develop healthy habits that will support them as they grow.
It is wonderful to see children becoming increasingly independent as they choose, communicate, wash, eat and enjoy their snack together.
Success Story of the Week
This week, the children have been developing their collaborative play skills. Throughout the week the children have been working enthusiastically alongside their friends to create lots of exciting potions in our very own Potion Lab! 🧙♀️🧪
They have been busy stirring, mixing, pouring and serving all sorts of wonderful concoctions, using their imaginations to bring their ideas to life. Some potions were particularly powerful, turning their friends into tigers, unicorns and even superheroes! 🐯🦄🦸♀️
It has been fantastic to see the children sharing ideas, taking turns, communicating with one another and having so much fun learning through imaginative play. What a magical week! ✨
All absences must be reported daily either by leaving an absence voice message or emailing admin@heathlane.herts.sch.uk.
We politely ask that if you plan to take your child out during school time, you notify the Nursery office. For appointments, we ask where possible that these are not during the school day. If this is not avoidable, please kindly share the relevant information for this appointment in order for us to be able to authorise this.
Regular attendance at Nursery is very important, as it helps children build the foundational knowledge and skills they will need as they move through school. Establishing good attendance habits now supports a smoother transition into primary school and helps ensure children develop positive routines that will benefit them throughout their educational journey. Thank you for your continued support in helping your child attend regularly and on time.
