Head of School's message
We are thrilled to share that our nursery garden is undergoing some exciting changes! Recently, you may have noticed work people in the outdoor area, busily preparing something special for our children.
While we don’t want to spoil the surprise just yet, we can promise that these developments will offer even more opportunities for creative play, learning, and exploration in our outdoor space. We are confident that the new additions will spark curiosity, encourage discovery, and make our garden an even more magical place for our little learners.
We can’t wait for the children to experience the finished project and see their faces light up with excitement! We’ll be sharing more updates soon, so stay tuned.

Book & Rhyme of the week

Our current Structured Stories Book is "Rosie's Walk" by Pat Hutchins.
Next week the story will move into the innovation phase of our Structured Storytelling programme, where the children will make changes to the original story such as characters, settings, or events while maintaining the structure and style of the original text. This will involve activities such as creating story maps and expressing their unique ideas through language, both written and spoken. This phase is essential in fostering a love for storytelling and a deeper understanding of narrative structures.

Our key vocabulary of the text is "across", "around", "over", "under", "through" and "past". Please see below link to story;

This Rhyme will support children with their Phonics skills including Rhyming and Rhythm.

Language of the week
We are lucky to have a rich and diverse community with lots of different languages. Our language of the week is Romanian, which is spoken by some of our children and their families.

Please find below links of how to say "Hello" and "Goodbye" in Romanian. You can practise with your child/ren at home.

Learning at home

We have been practising our baking skills at Nursery this week and incorporating maths in measuring our ingredients.

Perhaps you could practise your baking or cooking skills safely this weekend and send any photographs to admin@heathlane.herts.sch.uk
Healthy me, Healthy world
This week, the children visited the local park. This was linked to physical development and the prepositional language we have been reading in Rosie’s Walk. Importantly, it was also to practise road safety skills in a real-world setting. We focused on stopping, looking, and listening near roads, as well as safe walking habits.

You can reinforce these skills at home by talking about safe places to cross and praising careful behaviour when out and about. For more tips, see: BBC Bitesize – Road Safety.
Success story of the week
This week's Success Story highlights the incredible achievements of our children as they practiced road safety awareness under the watchful guidance of Class Teacher Videlina and other staff.
The children embarked on an exciting trip to the local playground, where they applied their newly acquired skills of using positional language being taught through Structured Storytelling text "Rosie's Walk".
This experience not only reinforced their understanding of road safety rules but also boosted their confidence as they demonstrated responsible behaviour in real-world situations.
Through fun and interactive learning, the children developed a keen sense of awareness and responsibility, marking another step in their journey to becoming confident, curious, and lifelong learners.
