Head of School's message

We are all aware that the rapidly changing situation in the Middle East is deeply concerning. During times like these, uncertainty can weigh heavily on our community.

I know that many of our families and staff may be worried about loved ones in the region. Others may be feeling the broader impact through rising costs of living or a heightened sense of vulnerability and instability. These challenges are real, and they affect each of us differently.

Please know that our school community is here to support one another. We are committed to providing a safe, caring, and steady environment for our children. We are able to provide a listening ear and signposting for anyone who may need additional support, and we encourage families to reach out if we can assist in any way.

In moments of global uncertainty, our shared values of compassion, respect, and unity matter more than ever. By looking out for one another and keeping lines of communication open, we strengthen the community that sustains us all.

Book & Rhyme of the week

The next Structured Stories Book is "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" by Eric Carle.

Next week the story will move into the innovation phase of our Structured Storytelling programme, where the children will make changes to the original story such as characters, settings, or events while maintaining the structure and style of the original text. This will involve activities such as creating story maps and expressing their unique ideas through language, both written and spoken. This phase is essential in fostering a love for storytelling and a deeper understanding of narrative structures.

Our key vocabulary of the text is "Caterpillar", "Cocoon", "Chrysalis", "Butterfly", "Moth" and "Hungry".

Please see below link to story;

The Rhyme of the week for next week is "A Sailor Went to Sea, Sea, Sea".

This Rhyme has a Phonics focus looking at alliteration.

Language of the week

We are lucky to have a rich and diverse community with lots of different languages. Our language of the week is Farsi, which is spoken by some of our children and their families.

Please find below links of how to say "Hello" and "Goodbye" in Farsi. You can practise with your child/ren at home.

Success story of the week

Today in Nursery we had a fantastic time celebrating World Book Day! We were incredibly lucky to be joined by our very own children’s author, (and Owl Group Key Person) Natalie Auld!

Natalie shared her three wonderful books with us: The Treemendous Tree, Max and Maude’s Powerful Potions, and Max and Maude’s Galapagos Island Quest. The children loved listening to the stories and discovering the exciting adventures within them.

To bring the stories to life, the children took part in some amazing immersive activities, including creating erupting volcanoes and planting our very own beautiful cherry blossom tree, kindly donated by Natalie and her family.

The children were so excited to learn that such a talented author works with us, and many are now feeling inspired to become authors themselves! We had some brilliant discussions about characters, settings and plots, and it was wonderful to see their imaginations come to life.

A huge thank you to Natalie for sharing her stories and inspiring our young readers and writers!
