Head of School's Message
As we move into October, please allow me to do a little promotion of our nursery!
Over the past two weeks, we have had several professionals visit children at Heath Lane. They have all commented on how impressed they are by the atmosphere and provision. One speech and language therapist said, 'It's so therapeutic - I've been telling everyone!'. We would like even more children to experience this.
We’re so pleased to see how well our 15-hour children have settled, and for those who would like to increase their hours, top-ups are available. Secondly, our Breakfast and After School Clubs currently have spaces available, and families are welcome to book regular or ad-hoc sessions to suit their needs (subject to availability). These sessions are led by Heath Lane staff, incorporate planned activities that are different from the school day (e.g. yoga) and provide a healthy menu.
Looking ahead, we still have a few nursery places left for our January 2026 intake, although these are filling up quickly. If you know families with children aged three and over who might be interested, please do encourage them to get in touch — we’d love to welcome them into our nursery community.
Any queries, please reach out to Carolyn in our office. She will be able to direct you to the information on our website and arrange visits for any new families.

Language of the week

We are lucky to have a rich and diverse community with lots of different languages. Our language of the week is Turkish, which is spoken by a couple of our children and their families.

Please find below links of how to say "Hello" and "Goodbye" in Turkish. Please practise with your child at home.

This week the children have been practising using their listening ears.

Whilst you are out and about at the weekend please practise using your listening ears to hear any different sounds/noises. How many can you hear?

Healthy Me, Healthy World
During the Health Lane professional development session this week. staff spent time revisiting the NHS Guidelines for physical development.

-
Pre-schoolers (3-4 yrs) should spend at least 180 minutes (3 hours) a day doing a variety of physical activities spread throughout the day, including active and outdoor play. The more the better.
-
The 180 minutes should include at least 60 minutes (1 hour) of moderate-to-vigorous intensity physical activity.
Whilst we make the days as active as possible, your children spend more time with you than with us!

-
Do you walk to and from school? Could you park further away and walk?
-
If your child attends for 15 hours, do you ensure they have some physical activity in the afternoon?
-
How do you ensure your chid has physical activity on the weekends?
Success Story of the Week
This week we have been discussing the seasonal changes.

There has been lots of activity down in the garden, digging in the beds and talking about what we can plant and grow.

The children have been counting conkers and collecting lots of different items in the environment to make a display in the Treehouse (see picture).
